Canada – Walmart
Singapore – Zilingo
The colours of the liquid lipsticks are pretty accurate to what you seen in the tube, however online it can be a little hard to determine the colours just simply from the pictures presented in websites. I highly recommend googling swatches (and taking a look at this blog post!) before deciding on what colours you should get.
I’ve created some swatches below for you to see (you can find more of my swatches on Instagram using the hashtag #sepiaswatches). For reference, I am an NC30 in MAC:
As you can see, you get great pigmentation in these, and can get a nice, solid, block colour without any patchiness at all.
This is actually one of my favourite formulas to wear, simply because for me, it is relatively comfortable. I don’t think there is a perfect liquid lipstick formula out there yet, but this ranks high on my list of tried ones.
The formula can show the cracks on your lips if you apply a thick layer, because these are creams, I highly recommend applying a light layer and thinning out with a brush. I also do recommend using a lip balm underneath as it can be on the drier side for some people, this is also something I do to ease the comfort.
My lips don’t get tacky when I press them together, and they do live up to the matte and velvety claim, I personally LOVE this as it means the lipstick stays put properly and doesn’t get patchy, just make sure you let it dry properly.
The price of these can vary depending on where you look, I always go for the cheapest price I can find, which for me usually is Beauty Bay.
I do think these are reasonably priced, they are drugstore equivalent, but really do compete with some of the higher end brands. You get quite a lot of product for what you pay for, and because of the opaque nature of the formula, can thin it out and make it last longer without it looking rubbish.
I tend to get about 4-6 hours great wear with these, sometimes with only 1 touch up in my inner lip. They are long lasting in my opinion, as I find some liquid lipsticks rub off as soon as I eat something, and these don’t budge all that much, unless you do really go in and eat something that goes all over your lips.
The packaging is one of my faves! I love the way you can see the colours through the tube, and that it’s not your standard round tube. This also makes them easy to store in your collection. The incorporation of gold also makes it one of those super Instagram worthy liquid lipsticks.
A few cons to consider:
- More on the dry side, so not suitable for everyone
- Has a smell, even though its a fab smell, not everyone likes scented makeup
- Cannot be layered as it will just make your lips look worse
- Darker colours tend to crumble more than the lighter colours
- A little heavy on the lips
For anyone who is interested in the ingredient list, here they are below. Note, not all colours will be in every liquid lipstick.
Isododecane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Kaolin, Flavor (Aroma), Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Synthetic Beeswax, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate. +/- May Contain: , Red 30 Lake (CI 73360), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Red 6 Lake (CI 15859), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Red 27 Lake (CI 45410), Red 28 (CI 45410), Iron Oxide (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499).
Overall, I have not stopped recommending these to everyone, they will always be a must have in my collection! They are also super affordable, and I personally think are a great purchase for anyone looking for affordable but long lasting liquid lipsticks.
Until next time, lots of love,
